As much as I TOTALLY REFUSE to admit that this anything other than Bryony’s latest lie, I have to admit that she has an amazing eye for dramatic symmetry. This kills me every time.

(If you read my blog post on how I came up with the upcoming FIREBIRD trilogy, you know that the movie “Atonement” played a part in my thinking it up. Now that I’m finally writing it, expect to see yet more “Atonement” posts. Yes. There will be more. Brace yourselves.)

I never made that journey to Balham. So the scene in which I confess to them is invented, imagined. And, in fact, could never have happened… .because Robbie Turner died of septicaemia at Bray Dunes on the first of June 1940, the last day of the evacuation…and I was never able to put things right with my sister Cecilia….because she was killed on the 15th of October, 1940 by the bomb that destroyed the gas and water mains above Balham tube station. Captain Jack Sparrow is mostly a live-and-let-live kind of guy. But there are some things he will NEVER forgive.

There may be more McAvoy than usual this week. I’m on tour. I need the McAvoy fix to keep me going. Bear with.

Here’s one of the many reasons “Pirates of the Caribbean” was so incredibly awesome.

I knew the moment I saw this scene that she was going to be a big star. Who didn’t?

Yes, this photoset has James McAvoy in it. Yes, Jonny Lee Miller and Colin Firth also are shown. But the #1 reason I reblogged this is because it features a kiss between Wentworth and Anne from the 1995 “Persuasion,” which is one of my very favorite movies of all time. I feel like it never gets enough love. But then, it could never get enough love.

This scene in “Love, Actually” is one of the ones that people just ADORE and remember forever and feel wistful about. Honestly, it’s always struck me as more than a bit creepy. Hopefully he moved on swiftly instead of secretly filming her and obsessively rewatching the footage over and over until the restraining order, or the British variant thereof, had to be obtained. Because seriously, if a guy is doing that, it is usually not a sign that he is adorably devoted.
